Thank you to our Kiltwalkers
On Sunday 3 May, nearly 2000 walkers braved the elements in Edinburgh to take part in the Kiltwalk and support CHILDREN 1ST and other amazing children’s charities across Scotland. The weather was gloomy, but spirits stayed high throughout this fantastic day.
Kiltwalkers reached the CHILDREN 1ST ‘music festival’ pit stop 5 miles into the route, and were met with smiles and cheers from our staff and volunteers. There the amazing cheerleaders from Fierce Pro Dancers treated us to a very fierce dance performance, drummers from Edinburgh Drum Society kept the beat for the hearty walkers, and Grace Canham entertained the crowds with her fiddle playing.
After 26 miles, the Kiltwalk finish line was full of emotion: exhaustion, relief, joy, and more than a few tears were shed as walkers skipped, danced and hobbled across the line into the charity village and the celebrations. It was an inspiring and exciting day and we thank everyone involved: the volunteers, staff and of course the walkers who made this day possible and supported children’s charities.
If you’d like to join in the Kiltwalk fun, there are still four more Kiltwalks happening in 2015 around the country! For more details on how to register please visit: www.children1st.org.uk/kiltwalk
