The Banchory Bangle 2024

Get your tickets here!

The Bangles and Their Creator

The Banchory Bangle is designed by prominent Perthshire artist and engraver, Dr Malcolm Appleby MBE FRSE and raffled annually by the Children First Deeside Committee.

You can enter the draw for the bangle by clicking on 'Get your tickets here!' with a suggested donation of £1 per entry. You are welcome to add an additional donation to your entry should you wish.

The 2024 bangle is themed around the flower ‘Hedgerow’. There is only one Banchory Bangle, cast in silver gilt, but two copies will be made in silver and bronze.

The bangles shown are what the lucky winners will receive in 2024.

The prizes

1st Prize – Hedgerow bangle in silver gilt (Approximate value £1,000)
2nd Prize – Hedgerow bangle in silver
3rd Prize – Hedgerow bangle in bronze

The Draw

2024 marks the 47th year of the Banchory Bangle. To date the bangle has raised over £193,000 for Children First, with last year’s draw raising almost £10,000!

With your support, this year we can surpass an incredible £200,000 raised through the Banchory Bangle, all of which helps support children and young people across Scotland.

Online tickets will close on Sunday 24th November 2024. Tickets can be purchased in person through the Deeside Committee and at Taylors of Banchory.

The raffle will be drawn on Sunday 1st December 2024 at the Banchory Lodge Hotel, Dee Street, Banchory, AB31 5HS

The 2024 Bangle

The Banchory Bangle design for 2024 is ‘Hedgerow’. It reflects the important part that Nature plays in our well-being.

The design is inspired by the variety of plant and animal life that inhabits our hedgerows. Set amidst a background of hawthorn, wild-rose, and other plants, with leaves, berries, hazel nuts and flowers reflecting health and profusion. There is a willow-warbler, a hedge sparrow, lady-birds, wood mice, a ground beetle and a comma-butterfly. The inner side of the bangle is decorated with more hedgerow and a red squirrel running around the inside.

Once again, Scottish Engraver Malcolm Appleby has created a unique work of art for Children First. There are three prizes this year, a silver gilt, a silver and a bronze version.  The Banchory Bangle remains a highly-prized piece of jewellery which has been won over the years by many people - there are now bangles throughout Scotland, the UK and well beyond. This year's design is a celebration of the precious biodiversity incorporated in a hedgerow, and makes a glorious bangle for 2024.
