The sixth anniversary of the Promise
Six years ago, Scotland made a promise to care experienced children and young people - you will grow up loved, safe and respected. And by 2030, that promise must be kept.
Commenting on the sixth anniversary of the Promise, Mary Glasgow, Chief Executive of Children First, Scotland’s national children’s charity, said: “When the Promise was published, it sparked real hope for Scotland’s children, their families, and everyone committed to supporting them.
“Six years on, that hope must not be allowed to fade. Ahead of the Holyrood elections we’re calling on all Scotland’s political parties to make a manifesto commitment to keeping the Promise. Children can’t wait.
“To keep the Promise, Scotland needs to make the shift to investing in cost effective public services that prevent harm rather than just respond to crisis situations. But, right now, too many families who reach for help struggle to find it and our care system is buckling.
“Time is running out to keep the Promise by 2030 – we need urgent action and leadership now.”
